OTHER METHODS

Food and Drink

There are various foods and drinks that you can consume which seem to have some effect on sleeping and dreaming. Note that for most of these there is no explanation or scientific study of how they work, and some might just be a placebo.

Don't go overboard with the consumption of any of these, as overdosing could have nasty effects (well, milk should be safe (not for allergics)).

Don't experiment without accumulating enough knowledge first. The authors in no way encourage the use of legal or illegal drugs.

*      Warm milk includes the amino acid tryptophan which is a precursor for the hormone serotonin, and has been proven to help you fall asleep

*      Vitamin B6 and others of the B group are important for neuronal functions

*      Melatonin is another hormone with neuronal effects

*      5-HTP or L-5-HTP is a supplement that is related to serotonin, which some claim has induced lucid dreaming on approximately half the nights it is taken.

Plants:

*      Artemisia vulgaris

*      Hypericum perforatum

*      Korean Ginseng

*      Salvia divinorum

*      Valeriana officinalis

The following can be used to create a (more or less) lucid dream-like state:
Dissociatives & Hallucinogens: (Again: Not recommended!)

*      Amanita muscaria

*      Ayahuasca

*      DXM

*      Ketamine

*      LSD

*      Mescaline

*      Morning glory seeds

*      PCP

*      Psilocybe mushrooms

*      Salvia in higher doses
